Summer is just around the corner and we are excited to be welcoming many guests over the coming months. Take a look at our top DO’s and DONT’s to make your next vacation to Costa Rica the best one yet!
DO Leave the Resort
While we are the first one’s to say that any stay at Los Sueños Resort and Marina is incredible all on its own, Costa Rica has so much to see. We recommend that our guests take advantage and see as much of this beautiful country as possible.
DO an Outdoor Adventure
Costa Rica has so many amazing outdoor adventures, why not try at least one! From zip lining and surfing to ATV and waterfall tours, you are bound to find something fun for the whole family. Talk to our concierge team to help you set it up.
DO Bring Sunscreen and Bug Spray
If you are considering travel to Costa Rica you are probably well aware of the fact that the sun is strong and mosquitos exist. We recommend having sunscreen and bug spray on hand from the get-go so no one has to worry about letting bug bites or a sunburn put a damper on your vacation.
DO Eat at a Local Soda
In Costa Rica, local traditional family style restaurants are known as “Sodas”. They serve amazing home cooked local cuisine, typically buffet style. Try it out! It’s a great way to get in touch with the local culture.
DO Learn the Phrase “Pura Vida”
You will quickly learn upon arrival, one of the most common phrases used throughout all of Costa Rica, “Pura Vida”. Literally translated this means Pure Life. This phrase is often used in place of “hello”, “goodbye”, or even as an answer to the question “How are you?”.
DON’T Be Afraid to Practice Your Spanish
While English is widely spoken and understood throughout many parts of Costa Rica, Locals love it when they hear tourists speaking Spanish. Even if you only know the basics, don’t be afraid to practice with the locals.
DON’T Let the Rain Stop You
Depending on when you plan to visit Costa Rica, you may run into the occasional rain shower, but don’t let this get you down. Even if it is raining where you are, 10 minutes down the road it’s very possible that the sun is shining. Either way, a little rain never hurt anybody. Bring a poncho and keep enjoying all the wonders that Costa Rica has to offer. Without a doubt you can still have a magical time in Costa Rica despite a little rain.
DON’T Wait Until the Last Minute to Book
Booking 2-3 months in advance can offer you huge savings. Just the week The Tico Times announced flights from Jan to May for just over $300!
DON’T Take Shells or Plants from their Natural Habitat
There is a good chance one of the reasons you have Costa Rica on your bucket list is for it's amazing flora and fauna. Even though it’s tempting take a little piece of paradise back with you, it’s actually illegal to take seashells from the beaches in Costa Rica and out of the country. We encourage our guests to take as many photos as possible and leave nature the way that you found it.
DON’T Leave Behind More than your Footprint
Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful countries on the planet…help us keep it that way! If you go to the beach or for a nature hike, don’t leave anything behind. Take all your trash with you and leave behind nothing more than your footprint and some good vibes.
We Hope to See you Soon in Paradise
